Christmas Inspires Me 365 Days a Year!

For real. It does. I mean, can't you tell? haha...I don't care if it's the middle of May, if I see something that's cute and Christmas-y, I'll get it. There's something about it that's just so magical. I dig it.

And as further evidence (and since I'm holding my X-Mas Preview Weekend over at my Etsy shop), I'm going to share some little ornament things that I've made over the past month/month and a half. :)

First up...Vintage Slide Ornaments! You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!
I loved making this one! I had found the little plastic gun at the flea market, which got me thinking of the Red Ryder BB gun, and I knew right away I had to make something in relation to that so I could use the gun. Of course, what better something than an ornament for the tree? For the image, I went online and found a 1x1" icon that fit perfectly. The ornament came out much more simple than my original idea, but I can live with that.Every Time a Bell Rings...
After the "A Christmas Story" ornament, I knew I wanted to make more. My Mother loves "It's a Wonderful Life" and I had these super cute tiny bells that I had received in the major lot of crafty goodness from Goodwill a few months back, so I knew those would be perfect to use. I went with a more classic feel here. My Mom likes classic and pretty, not funky and bright. And, well, it fit better that way. I mean, "It's a Wonderful Life" is a classic afterall...Heath Ledger Memorial Trinket Ornament/Decoration
The passing of Heath Ledger still saddens me greatly. I know it always will. After making the other 2 vintage slide ornaments, I was trying to think of what over movies or shows I wanted to use and then it just popped into my head that I should make a Heath Ledger one. This is my personal favorite of the 3. And actually, I loved how it turned out so much that I now have it hanging on my wall above my desk where I can see it all the time. I guess I'll have to make another one for the tree, but I'm okay with that. :)

That's all I have for Vintage Slide ornaments for now...I definitely plan on making more, but that was all I was able to squeeze in before the move. I did make some more spool ornaments, like the one I had made last year with the teeny tiny Santa. I made 2 so far, but once again, plan on making more. These will be arriving in the Etsy shop at some point. Maybe this weekend. Maybe later on. Who knows...it will be a surprise! :)I also made this larger spool ornament...love the way this one turned out! I made it with the intention of putting it in the shop, but I think I'm keeping it because I don't have any more of those Christmas-y chorus people to make another. Speaking of things made for the shop, but never making it there...I've decided to list this Favorite Things trinket box that I had made a little while ago, but then liked it so much, I decided to keep it. While I still love it, I have found that I don't have a place for it in the new room, so instead of storing it till the cow jumps over the moon, I'm going to list it in the shop in the hopes that it will find a good home. :)I'll leave you with a few pics of some recent flea market/Goodwill finds...I totally have to thank the online crafting/artistic community for turning me on to thrifting. I love it!That's all for now...more shop stuff to take care of, plus some other little errands...and I still need to shower! Room pics VERY soon! :)

Your ornaments are great...I love that they are made from old slide envelopes..and you are so creative with your subject matter. I'm with your Mom...It's A Wonderful Life, one of my all-time favorites movies in the world!

Good luck with your Christmas preview.
