Goodwill.

In the midst of running errands this morning, I noticed that our local Goodwill has relocated to a much more easily accessible spot in town and they were having a grand opening. I never went to Goodwill before because it wasn't in the best area and it was hard to find a place to park, but the new store is now located in a shopping center with plenty of parking, so I figured I'd make a stop in and see what I could find.

When I turned into the shopping center, which is NEVER ever full, I couldn't believe my eyes, there were cars EVERYWHERE! People were even parked in places that I didn't think you could park in. They were all there for the Goodwill grand opening too. They were raffling off a $100 gas card, so I'm sure that helped draw people in. My poor boyfriend...he doesn't get excited about vintage or other people's junk, but he got dragged along anyways, haha. The lines were so long and you could barely look around, but I did manage to find a few neat-ish things. I found this maroon lace piece, which I'm think was a curtain, tablecloth or maybe a runner. Figured if I ever get my sewing machine hooked up, I can use it for something. That was $1.99 and then I found this set of 4 photo clips/placecard holders. I think they're really pretty and for $1.99, I'm sure I can find a use for them or try to take the jeweled part off and use them in my crafty things. And then my last find was this little blue dish thing. I think it's missing a cover, and the gold paint is coming off, but I fell in love with it anyhow. I just adore the color and I don't know what it's made of, maybe some sort of ceramic, glass or plastic, but whatever it is, I think it's really cool!
Hopefully I'll get a chance to go back soon when it's not insanely crowded and I can look around more.
And I really do need to get my sewing machine hooked up and learn how to sew. I really want to learn how to make a quilt. While I was in line, I was near a rack of sweaters and I was looking at all the pretty colors, thinking that I could recycle the sweaters and make a really neat and funky quilt out of them. But, I can't justify spending the money until I actually know how to do it, lol. Anyone else like that?

Anyways, that's it for today...hope you're all well in blogland! :)

UPDATE: So, after I showed my Mom my mystery little dish, she said, "It looks like a soapdish". Hmm. Go figure...I never even saw that, haha. Then, I peeled off the price tag on the bottom to find that it said "AVON". So, after doing a quick eBay search for 'Avon soapdish', I discovered that I had a 1975 Avon Bristol Blue soapdish. Doesn't look like it's worth more than a few dollars, but hey, I think it's cool! :)
