Today...

...I reached Model Sister rank over at SIStv. Yep. :)

...I woke up to find two blue jays perched on a shrub outside my window. Up close and personal. It was lovely. Then they flew to this tree, which is fast losing all it's leaves, although you can't make the birds out in the picture. Also, taken through a screen, it sort of gives the picture a neat texture...
....I pretty much got in a fight with a cashier and one of the service desk managers at my local Border's. Now, I don't like conflict and I don't like to start conflict and I work in retail, so I'm always very understanding of policies and procedures, but these people were ridiculous and had no clue about a certain program that the company they work for is involved in and basically told me I was crazy in front of the rest of the line. I won't get into the whole story because it's a long one. Long story short, I was right and tomorrow morning you'd best believe that I will bring in a print-out proving to them that their company is involved in said program. Will use up the rest of my gift card on a copy of "Twilight" and then will be writing a letter to corporate recommending that they educate their employees on the programs they are involved in and also re-educate them on customer service. I've always loved Border's. Always bought my books there and cute Paperchase goodies and ignored that their CDs and DVDs are WAY overpriced. Now, I'll buy my books on Alibris or Amazon and will try to avoid shopping at Border's at all costs.

...is this guy's birthday. Saw him Wednesday night for the first time since July. He was amazing, as usual. Also, made this fun little birthday card for him......is Halloween and I still have yet to watch "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", "A Garfield Halloween", the Olsen Twins' "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble", or any of the "Roseanne" Halloween episodes, so I'd best be doing that now.Happy Halloween, everyone! Be safe. Don't get into any fights with any retail employees, like I did. :)

Believe.

in Magic. in Love. in Family. in Hope. in Change. in Creativity. in Life. in Yourself.
This is up for sale in my Etsy shop now. Found a small bag of these brown pocketwatch-looking thingies at Goodwill and thought they might make neat little trinkets for your wall or other place in your home. I thought of Harry Potter when I was making this one. Hence the magic. Have I mentioned that I'm upset about them delaying the release of the next movie? Harry Potter is meant for a Nov./Dec. release...it just say Christmas to me, I can't explain it. But now, once again, I have to go see it in the summer. Lame. Not really. At least the seeing it part. That's not lame. Because I will see it. For reals, yo.

Dozens layout coming soon! And hopefully some more things if I can get my you-know-what in gear and make some stuff. Seems that now that I've revamped my closet into this wonderful little space, I'm almost afraid to create anything in there for fear of messing it up. Crazy, huh? haha

Have a good weekend everyone!

Grr.

So, today I went into work. Clocked in. About a half hour later one of my managers comes up to me and says that another one of my supervisors was looking at the schedule and noticed that I wasn't on the schedule today, which I though was completely ridiculous because you know, I wrote it down, copied it directly from the schedule book. So, long uninteresting story short, sure enough, I copied down the time I was supposed to be there right, but I copied it down for today instead of tomorrow. Woops. I felt like an idiot. I've never done that before. I guess we all make mistakes. Luckily I had to go to the post office anyway, so leaving the house today wasn't a total waste.

And now I'm blogging. And showing you my latest layout for ScrapMojo. See? Right here...Scrap an urban legend or ghost story in your family or otherwise and use sheet music. I chose to scrap about the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA. My Mother and I went out to visit family friends there back in 2000 and they took us there on a tour. It was totally cool! You can read about the house and Sarah Winchester (the original owner) here. Get your layouts/projects in soon...they're due on the 30th!

That's about it for now. Off to go make some things in my closet (does that sound weird? haha) before dinner. Oh, and can I just confess to you all that I kinda, okay really, have this strange desire to go see "High School Musical 3". Musicals like that and RENT are my guilty pleasures, for real.

Till next time,

The Crafty Closet 2.0.

That's what I call it. That is, the second closet in the new bedroom that houses all my supplies.

I re-did it. I spent all day Saturday fixing it up. Seriously. All day and night, in fact. See, I decided that instead of leaving the card table I use as my scrap desk in the room, all looking like the eye-sore that it is, I should actually put it IN the closet. And hence, scrap from IN the closet. Except, not really in, just kinda, like a scrap nook that I can roll my little Target task chair on up to and get down to business in. It just wasn't working for me before. At all. I couldn't open the closet door all the way because the card table stuck out too far and then because of that, I couldn't really easily get to all of my supplies and it was just all blah. So, anyways, without further ado, I give you...

THE CRAFTY CLOSET 2.0:I think I kinda dig it. Everything is much more accessible and visible. Before, I would forget what I had and not even use it. Maybe I'll use everything now. I think it's quite perfect for me, actually. Helps that there is a light in the closet. So, I can see too. And when I'm not feeling all that creative, I can just shut the door and voila! I don't have to be reminded of my current creative failures, haha. Although, the door hasn't shut yet. The room is still a work in progress, but the good thing is it is PROGRESSING. Yep. :)

Oh, and Mraz was amazing, as expected. I heart him. I really do. It was a sold out show, and our seats were pretty far back, so I didn't get any good videos or pictures, but I did find this video of "The Dynamo of Volition" on YouTube that someone took. It's sooo good! Check it out...

He made the whole crowd do that little dance and beforehand he had said "Don't let your mind stop you from having a good time", in reference to worrying about looking like an idiot while doing it. I loved that. So true. My mind is always ruining my good time.

Here's a scene from my desk yesterday.Jar of vintage buttons from the flea market, stickers and buttons from the concert. Office mini notes and globe from the Target dollar spot. Love the dollar spot!

I also added this Home Sweet Home Holiday wall hanging to my Etsy shop yesterday. This is a hard one to part with. I want to keep it. Eek!

And coming very soon to my shop...some of those rhinestone button packs, I promised. As well as some vintage laces and I have 2 of these old Pullman date stamps. I have one that I've started using in place of the cheap Staples one I had and I love it! So, keep checking the shop for those and other goodies!:)

Off to see the wizard...

The wizard of oohs and ahhs and fa la las, that is. Tonight, not again. Yes, again. 2nd time. Jason Mraz. I love him so. He's a lyrical genius. I'm excited. Can you tell?

Hope you all have a super swell weekend! :)

12 years.

Today marks 12 years since my Father passed away. Seems every year at this time it's always such a typical overcast fall day. It's almost comforting.

I thought I'd re-share a much older layout I made about him. He was the best Dad. So loving, so caring. So protecting. The time when he was here almost feels like a whole other lifetime for me. And really, it was. I imagine that his passing was probably the point by which my childhood ending could be defined. I'm sure it's why a part of me never wants to grow up, never take that next step into adulthood. His passing is something I still deal with today. It's left me with some intense fears about death that I constantly struggle with internally. It's why I can't really watch horror movies or medical shows or the news. But I do deal. And I try to create and surround myself with pretty, fun, colorful things and happiness.

I miss him.

Some stuff.

Hello, hello! I've been meaning to post everyday for the past few days, but I've been on a vacation of sorts from work, which has actually been really, really nice. No moving, no stress...lovely. I've spent some time at Goodwill, the flea market, too much time eating out, but hey, IHOP's Pumpkin pancakes are not to be missed! Haven't really had any time to craft or scrap, as I've been constantly on the go. And speaking of scrapping, I have yet to share my latest Dozens and ScrapMojo projects with you. Shame, shame!

So, here are my Dozens layout with the kit "Rainbow Nerds"...and yes, this kit was just as bright and fun as it sounds! And here's my layout for the latest Mojo challenge, scrap about Halloween costume or a favorite Halloween movie/show and make your own embellishment...went a little nuts with the lace on this one, woops! :)Also, a big welcome the newest gal to join the Mojo team, Dani Johnston (aka Danilouwho on SIS)...her style is so fun, so I'm excited to see her on board! Don't forget to stop by the Mojo blog and welcome her. Also, don't forget, projects/layouts for this challenge are due on the 20th!

I mentioned spending some time thrifting, which means that I have to show you what I found! Of course! Excitement abounds, hehe!

Here's my score from one day of thrifting at a local thrift shop and the Salvation Army...The trays, lace, buttons, zipper, bias tape and embroidery thread were all from the local thrift shop, while the fabric (blue and white striped), plastic lace hearts (that are a bit warped...anyone have any remedies for that?), fun pink beaded necklace and framed piece of embroidery were from the Salvation Army. The best part was that most of what I got at the Salvation Army was all half price!

Yesterday, I ventured to the Flea Market. Didn't find too much. Saw a few pieces that I liked, but the prices were way too high and people didn't seem in the bargaining mood. I did however make out like a bandit in the button department! I saw this old tin just filled with buttons, most of which looked like rhinestone buttons and boy, do I love those! I figured he was going to tell me they were like, I don't know, 5 buttons for a dollar or something like that, but to my surprise, when I asked he told me a VERY fair price for the WHOLE tin!!! Of course, I took them. They were all in good shape too. I'm assuming they're vintage. And, they don't all fit in the container I put them in, so what I'm probably going to do is make up a few packs and share them in my Etsy shop soon. I think it's time for some destashing anyway. I can't even get to anything in my craft closet because I have so much stuff. Yikes!

Here's a few pics of my craft table taken late last night. See what I mean?Oh, also check out the new Inspired by Amelie challenge. It went up the other day and the prize is awesome! I took a break for this round, but I'll hopefully be back in the swing of things next time! :)

I think that's all for now. Hope everyone is well!

It feels like fall.

Cool air, leaves changing, pumpkins on door steps. Love it. For now. Not when winter's here, of course.

My favorite part of fall is the pumpkins...I love pumpkins and anything pumpkin-flavored. Coffee, cappuccino, cheesecake, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies...yum! Of course, one of my most favorite things...Pumpkin soft serve ice cream with hot fudge from Dairy Joy...heaven in a little dish, I swear. I also really like gourds. Not to eat, but to look at. They're so fun, different, I love the feel of them and how shiny they are. When I was little, I remember my Father taking me apple picking at a local orchard. They had a little store/bakery and when we'd go, he'd always take me in there after. We'd get apple cider, some pastries and my favorite, some gourds. Fond memory.

And with fall, comes Halloween. My favorite part of Halloween...no, not the candy! :) The Halloween kids shows, duh! I'm such a big kid. A part of me will forever be 10 years old. Seriously though, give me "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", "A Garfield Halloween" and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsens' "Double Double Toil and Trouble" and I'm a happy camper. Also, any of the early "Roseanne" Halloween eps. Not that that is a kid's show, but I used to watch it as a kid, so same category. Not really. But kind of.

Speaking of Halloween, I made this fun little Home Sweet Haunted Home wall hanging. It's part of my Home Sweet Home series. I also made this one as well, although it has nothing to do with Halloween...The Halloween one is up for sale in my Etsy shop as we speak. I'm keeping the other. In fact, it's residing on the wall next to my bulletin board above my desk now. Here's a pic...Here's a peek at some shelves I have up, holding some of my collection of vintage/thrifted/random items. The little baseball boy was from Shop 66 on Etsy and the Simpsons blind box figures are from Kid Robot. Also, the shelves are not hung on the wall crooked. I just took the picture crooked.

Went to Goodwill the other day. I hadn't been in a bit. Money has been tight, but I just couldn't resist as I drove by it. I had to pull in. Found some lovelies too!Look at that Pyrex Friendship 1 qt. casserole dish...what a beauty! Somehow I've managed to start collectiong Pyrex. I can't help it, the dishes just call out to me. I've decided I'm going to keep collecting it and one day when I have a kitchen to call my own, I'm pretty sure they'll look really cool all displayed together.

As for the silhouette and small oval pictures, I'm not sure of the maker or date...they appear vintage, but there's absolutely no markings on them. Vintage or not, I love them. Same goes for the little red glass creamer. It's got a lot of character. Has some scratches and markings, but I dig it. The blue mug is by Corning. I adore the color! I really love my local Goodwill!

Has anyone watched the new "90210"? I have to admit that I have. Now, I was so mixed beforehand. I watched the original from the beginning, I basically grew up on it...I was seriously like 5 years old. Flipping through the channels, came across this show and it had this guy waking up to one of those Felix the cat clocks...so I kept it on because I like the clock. That was the first episode. My Mom and I watched it from then on till the end in 2000. When we started hearing about this remake, we were both like yeah right, we won't watch that. And then we heard Jenni Garth was coming back and Shannen Doherty (not that we ever liked her or her character, but still), so it was a bit intriquing. I decided to watch the first episode just to see what it was like and see how they were going to bring Brenda back and yeah. A few episodes later, I'm still watching it. They got me, they sucked me in, because, you see, what they started to do is give little tidbits of information and raise questions about the original characters. So, for someone who watched the original series, you're clearly curious as to how these fictional friends of yours turned out. And then you have to tune in next week to see the answer to that question and then that raises another question and by the time you realize, now you're legitmitally watching the show. Now, I know all the new characters and the plotlines and everything. So, like I said, I got sucked in. I'm just curious as to what everyone thinks about it...so, if you've seen it, please, I'd like to hear your opinions. :)

I have to show you Tim's new little nephew, Trot...he's so adorable! He's a little over a week old...we went to see him at Tim's parents' house yesterday evening for a bit...look how cute! Here's a new LO I made about Tim and his goddaughter, Lily...I LOVE this photo of them! This was from a few months ago and I'm just getting around to scrapping it, haha...Anyways, I think that's it for now...you're probably tired of reading, right? Hope everyone is well...until next time,
-Lindsay
